I recently have had an illness with the following symptoms swollen parotid glands malaise low grade fever . I have had all my immunizations. I was treated first with symptomatic therapy then with antibiotics for possible infected salivary glands. Today my 6 year old came home from school with a high fever(101) and headache fatigue . I am concerned about other causes for my illness and what I need to watch for my child

Hi

Immunisations are not 100% effective.

Swollen parotids and fever - there's not a lot else it can be especially if the swelling was bilateral.

EBV is not associated with parotid swelling.

Kawasakis - high fever for 5 days, conjuctivitis , skin peeling from hands/fingers.
