Just returned from a cruise to the Mexico/Panama area. I didn't eat or drink anything that wasn't bottled off the ship. About 10 hours after eating some soft scrambled eggs from the ship, I had severe diahrea that lasted 50 hours or so. I experienceed two other symtoms: putrid watery yellow stools and coated tongue during this episode. Could it be food poisoning or parasites? I am getting better now (4 days later) but I never had anything like those symptoms before.

It is possible that this is just a viral illness from the eggs on the ship. As long as you are getting better then you should be fine. Make sure to drink plenty of water so you don't become dehydrated. If your symptoms return or get worse, you need to see a doctor to rule out food poisoning. Reply to CorpsmanUp's Post: Thanks for your post. I am curious about what causes the yellow smelly stool. Do you think it could be gall bladder ?

The color is more than likely going to be determined by what you eat and the reaction to it by the acids in the stomach. As long as you are not having severe cramping or pain in your stomach then I wouldn't be concerned about a gall bladder infection just yet.
