What are the symptoms of BV (bacterial vaginosis)? I have had a creamy discharge and a funny smelling odor (not fishy, just funny smelling)since my husband and I had sex without him pulling out when he ejaculated. Could this be BV? I have a Dr appointment, but I would like to know and also if there is anything that I can do.

Reply to NurseElisa's Post: No it doesn't smell like fresh baked bread or a yeast infection and I do not itch. The odor gets worst right after my period and I have had this for a couple of weeks now. I really do not smell it or see the discharge (thick and white)until we are having sex.

Well, this is interesting. It doesn't smell like bread, so yeast infection is out, discharge is worse after your period, so it isn't the hormonal influence, and it only smells after you have sex.

It sounds normal to me! Let me tell you why: the normal bacteria present in your vagina and your secretions, mixing with his secretions. This is very common. It has happened to me many times and I had the same question - and the GYN told me I had no infection.

If you have no chance of having an STD, this is normal.

Would LOVE to know what the GYN says about this. I think you will be fine.

Soap and water during daily baths should take care of this.

Hope this helps!

Reply to NurseElisa's Post: ok, but it didn't start until he ejaculated in me and he doesn't anymore, but I still have the same odor coming out during sex and it really bothers me....like something is not right because I have never had it before in the 13 years we have been together. It may be normal, since he came in me the one time recently, but shouldn't it go away? Or how can I get rid of it? (douching doesn't work)
