I constantly have a sweet taste in my throat, have trouble clearing my throat and since having braces at a late age, have firey spots on my tongue that haven't gone away for more than two years. Orthodontist, dentist have ignored me. Went to an oral surgeon who put me on steroids and I'm miserable. Any suggestions?

The tonge is the most intense. I ran a marathon in June 04 with braces in, developed a latex alergy at the time and mouth was pretty distressed. All doctors just discount it as mouth trauma, but I feel it's gone on too long and should be biopsied to determine the real problem. Any suggestions? Can't keep taking the steroids (poison) much longer and it's not doing the trick anyway. Thanks for your input.

Hi.

Is there anything visible or palpable that feels or looks abnormal.

Certainly there are a few rare inlammatory conditions of the tounge that are, as you point out, diagnosed by biposy.
