I've had what I think is stomach flu for about the last 5 days. It started with vomiting repeatedly last monday (1/8). Vomiting ceased by tuesday. I had a little diarrhea. Periodic mild fever. I'm feeling about 85% back to normal now (1/13). I supposed to take my elderly father in to the doctor on Monday (1/15). He is not real mobile and has prostate cancer. He's 87. Is there any chance I would be contagious?

Optional Information:
Male , Age: 49

I'm actually feeling better. It's a question of whether I'm contagious.

Hi,

It is possible that you may still be contageous. Spread by virus-infected droplets that are coughed or sneezed into the air, the flu is contagious. People infected with the flu are contagious from a day before they feel sick until their symptoms have resolved (usually about 1 week for adults, but up to 2 weeks for kids).

If you are concerned, then be extra careful around your father. Wear a mask if you can. Wash your hands frequently.

Even though I haven't had any upper respiratory symptoms, (it's all been gastro-intestinal) I can still transmit it by breathing or coughing?

"By taking your father to the doctor you should be safe in not transmitting it to him as ling as you do not eat or drink after him." Do you mean by this sharing glass or utensils with him?
Thanks.
