I have had persistent symptoms for over a month now. They include
-dizziness
-nausea
-fatigue (on and off)
-headache and facial pain (doing better with antibiotics, but still there)
-facial pain and pain in teeth
-fever (low grade and lasting only 2 maybe 3 days
-sore throat
-I was diagnosed with bacterial tonsillitus
-mild weekness
-some malaise
does this sound like acute HIV infection?
I will say that I had a brief sexual encounter, but at the time I had already experienced the nausea and some diaherria and dizziness.

Hello,
Most likely your symptoms are due to infection only .
Toxin from bacteria may enter in blood stream and can produce wide spread symptoms like malaise , weakness etc .
As such you need to be treated with antibiotics which you already taking .
Take steam regularly and saline gargles .
Also based upon symptoms diagnosis of HIV cant be made and if you have doubtful history testing further can only clear the things .

Reply to Dr Anil Munjal's Post: Is the fact that my tonsillitus was bacterial and not viral or fungal rule out HIV? or at least make it less of a possibility? I know the only way to confirm it is through testing which I will do when i reach the 3 month mark. I would also like to add that my lymph nodes did not swell during the fever. One in my neck did in response to the tonsills but that was the only one.

No as such having bacterial tonsillitis doesnot rule out HIV .

But with such a history first provisional diagnosis would be Tonsillitis .
