If she was in close contact with you, it's very likely that these symptoms are related to the same virus you had. Anxiety and nervousness can also cause gastrointestional upsets, but given the situation, it's more likely to be some kind of bacterial or viral infection.
If she wants to wait this out without seeking treatment from a doctor, there are a couple of products that may help. Some doctors suggest that letting diarrhea run it's course it's natural and healthy for the body as long as you don't become dehydrated, and as long as it clears up within a reasonable amount of time. However, over-the-counter immodium (in both tablet and liquid form) is very effective for slowing the bowels. Bismuth subsalicyclate products like pepto and kaopectate work as well, as does antacids containing aluminum hydroxide.
Bismuth subsalicyclate (pepto, kaopectate) is also effective for vomiting caused by GI infections, and can be obtained over the counter. Antihistimines can be used, but are usually only effective for motion-sickness vomiting. She should also drink only small amounts of clear liquids until she is able to tolerate it without vomiting for at least 6 hours. Afterwards, she may slowly return to her normal diet.
Look out for things like dehydration, severe fever, blood in stools, confusion, and please see a doctor if you experience any of the above, or the symptoms don't resolve after 10 days.
