Hello,I have recently been feeling like a medical mystery and am trying to put together all the pieces to help figure out my condition!!! Here is a brief history...

I have been diagnosed with PCOS and recently just spent six days in the hospital for severe neurological symptoms such as dizziness and imbalance (that was NOT vertigo), tingling in the face, memory recall problems, and slurring/jumbling of words. My dizziness was so severe that I could not walk, or even sit up in bed with out assistance. I was released with an Atypical migraine, but the doctors seemed unconvinced. The severity of the symptoms seemed to fade off as quickly as they came on but I still get minor symptoms now, almost two months later. Last week, I ruptured a cyst in my ovaries and this week noticed my dizziness/tingling/ symptoms return mildly. I got my period this week and realized that I was put in the hospital with symptoms at approximately the same point in my cycle. Could hormones be the cause???

What do you suggest I should do to confirm PMS as the cause? Are there tests that I can ask my doctor to run? If not, aren't I in the same spot I was in - undiagnosed?

Not really,
As per the Univ of Virginia website
"Aside from a complete medical history and physical and pelvic examination, diagnostic procedures for PMS are currently very limited. Your physician may consider recommending a psychiatric evaluation to, more or less, provide a differential diagnosis (to rule out other possible conditions). In addition, he/she may ask that you keep a journal or diary of your symptoms for several months, to better assess the timing, severity, onset, and duration of symptoms."
You can take a print out to try to convince your doctor about this possibility,
Also the good news is that you can try the treatment options mentioned in consultation with your physician and see if they work,
Some of the treatment options are OTC and hence can be tried even without a prescription,
All the best,
