What is the best way to stop using Nasonex - and to treat symptoms of withdrawal while doing so? Boyfriend had sinus surgery May 4, and was prescribed Nasonex. He has since experienced anxiety, shivering, mood swings, a pain beneath his right eye and other unusual symptoms. He was told his recovery (from the surgery) was complete, and he could stop using the Nasonex, but when he stopped, his symptoms got MUCH worse. He would like to be done with it completely, but would like to taper off safely.

Optional Information:
Male, Age: 29, New Jersey

Already Tried:
So far, he has slept with a humidifier in his bedroom, and taken ibuprofen to ease inflammation of sinus tissue. Both helped only a little and temporarily.

While it is unusual for Nasonex to cause a rebound phenomenon like the one that you are describing, secondary blockage of nose can occur in some if it si stopped abruptly..
I would recommend taking it alternate days for a week and then consider stopping it if nasal symptoms worsen,
I am not sure that it would help the other symptoms though which will need a physical examination for further management,
