Can a deviated septum be the underlying cause of persistent globus sensation of the throat?

Optional Information:
Male, Age: 45, Canada

I was on panteloc/nexium for years - I think it caused more grief than cure, I never really believed I had GERD, was allways sure it was more ENT related, recently diagnosed with deviated septum and preparing for surgery, hoping this eleviates the very terrible globus in my throat that I have been suffering from for last 3 years, I get lots of post nasal drip and typical D.S. symptoms.

Yes, deviated nasal septum can certainly cause globus symptoms. In fact, it is known to be the major cause of globus symptoms.

You should take heart, your symptoms will very likely be corrected with this surgery.

Deviated nasal septum causes a discrepancy in the flow of air. It also leads to a chronic inflammation in the nose and pharynx, which leads to irritation of the mucosa and this is what causes the irritation of globus. Correction of the DNS will correct the globus symptoms.

WOULD THE DEVIATED SEPTUM ALSO BE THE UNDERLYING REASON FOR THE GLOBUS SENSATION ( LUMPS IN THE THROAT) BEING ESPECIALLY DISTRESSING FIRST THING IN THE MORNING, AND EVEN MORE BOTHERSOME AFTER A MORNING COFFEE, WOULD IT ALSO BE THE CAUSE OF MY PERSISTENT TICKLE COUGH AND FEELING OF GAG REFLEX ON OCCASSION
