For the past several days, the outer pad of my left hand has felt as though it's "asleep"... that slightly numb pins and needles sensation. I don't have health insurance, so I'm hesitant to go to the doctor, plus I thought it would simply pass. Any idea of what could be going on?

I haven't tried anything... it's simply been this annoying sensation, which I noticed first when I washed my hands.

Hello,

Firstly the numbness may be due to - repetitive-stress motion disorder . It can be caused by nerve compression. It may also be due to - circulatory, like poor blood circulation, neurological, or muscle-related condition.

If , it has occured suddenly then it could be a warning sign of an impending stroke. You need to exercise the hand muscles, you should avoid temperature extremeties, Also massage & relaxing therapy will relieve the stress & improve blood circulation.

You should see your Physician, to evaluate the condition and get clinical examination.

I hope this has helped.

Reply to Med_help's Post: Impending stroke? That's pretty intense... it has happened suddenly, I'm in stellar physical condition, eat pretty darn healthy, drink some, but overall take good care of my body. I have been sleepier than normal... sometimes sleeping long hours - but this has been going on a while before the "numb hand". Sorry, but you stated the "impending stroke" comment, and then didn't say anything else about it...

Having sudden numbness , can be a sign of stroke, But as you have, these symptoms for many days, and you told that you are in good physical condition, so i will not worry. .

It may be due to circulatory cause like poor blood circulation, neurological, or muscle-related condition. get evaluation from your Family Physician.

I hope this has helped.
