itching welps

I'm 47 yr female, with itching welps that moved to different locations on my body, it started on my feet and hands, and has move up and down my body in my lympatic (?sp) system. The welps are the size of half dollars to pea size, they will move from hands to eyes, lips will swell like getting a fever blister, but does not come to head, my throat will swell, toungue, will fill like it has ulcers.   I have not changed any detergents, deodrants, medication. I know i shouldn't take this large amount to prednisone. But the alturnative will itich me to death. help please. This all started in July/07 and have been on the prednisone since. I have tried to decrease the dose done to 5mg, but have had ti increase to 20mg.
Any sugestion?

Reply to Family Physician's Post: I have seen my Interal med. dr., but he just left to retire, no test have been done, no diagnos have been given, I have had my annual check up in November, with a Lupus profile, in 95 was dx with Sjorians. But ANA profile is a good, nothing. Do not know what to do next. or Where to go.
