As a result of recent sinus problems and blowing my nose, I have experienced a sort of spasm or throbbing in my throat behind my adam''s apple. This spasm is kind of like a brief panic attack usually when I inhale. My voice is also kind of strained, but my throat is not sore. Is this some kind of infection in my throat or something else?

I have not been treated for a sinus infection. It doesn't feel like a typical sinus infection since it's down around my adam's apple. However, it comes and goes occasionally, usually connected with mucus and blowing my nose. The mucus is clear, however.
I just wanted some information so that I would be a little more able to describe the symptoms before I call the doctor.
When the same thing happened in the spring, they did all of these tests on me and found nothing. I think it's allergy/sinus related and possibly an infection that needs antibiotics, but that's just a guess!

Thanks!

Hello again and thanks for the helpful information. You may very well have an upper airway infection. This can be caused from a virus or a bacteria. Swabbing the secretions in your nose & throat then culturing them would tell you if antibiotics are indicated. The inflammation, mucous & increased pressure from blowing your nasal passages can cause spasms in your pharynx, esophagus or larynx. However from your first description of the problem behind your "adams apple" You need to consider your larynx ( voice box, vocal cords). No matter if it is an allergy, a virus or bacterial cause....there are prescription medications that your health care provider can give you to thin the mucous, sooth the lining of your airways and reduce the inflammation while it takes it course. Hope this helps and if you need further clarification I can be available.
