I have been sick for almost a week now. It started the first day with a sore throat. The second day I had no symptoms. The third day I was fine until about 5:45 pm when I developed a wet cough producing some green phlem. It has been a cough and stuffy/runny nose since then with slight sore throat and loss of voice. The phlem is now normal color and not green. Any ideas what this is?

Dear Customer (name blocked for privacy),

Sounds like you have a cold with possible bronchitis. Now that your phlegm is of normal color, that is a good sign that you do not have an infection that would require antibiotics. If you haven't had a fever, it's pretty safe to rule out the flu.

My suggestion is the good old fashion advice of getting plenty of fluids, rest, and continue with the cough suppressant/expectorant. For your sore throat, Chloraseptic throat spray is a numbing spray that can ease the discomfort of sore throat. It sounds as if you are already doing everything you need to do.

If this persists or does not seem to improve by Monday, give your physician a call as you may require antibiotic therapy. Also, if you have a fever associated with your symptoms, you should call your physician.
