I receintly ( last monday ) came down with a sore on either side of mi lip, I treated it with over the counter remidies for cold sores and it did not heal, Last friday I started running a fever of 101.5 F. Tylinol manages the fever just fine, sunday morning I started getting sores inside my mouth,I went to the doctor and they tested me for strep, ( the inside of my throat was very irritated,) the test came back negitive. My gland at the bottom of my jaw on the left is swollen (huge by my doctors standards) she put me on Valtrex and said I have a viral infection. I have not had ANY sexual contact with ANYONE outside of my wife, since we met and got serious, (more htan 8 months ago) what could this be and how did I get it?
