My wife is coughing so hard she can't catch her ...

My wife is coughing so hard she can't catch her breath, and vomits. What could be wrong with her? Could it be Pnumonia?

Already Tried:
Been to Doctor last week. PA says it is just broncuticts. She was given a Z-Pack and a Cough medicne. But the problem persists.

I would have to agree with the diagnosis, this seems like a case of Asthma (also called Bronchitis).

In view of her severe cough I would urge you to consider getting her nebulized at your local ER/ physician. This would definitely help her cough. I would also ask the doctor to prescribe her Inhalers (Metered Dose Inhaler/ Diskus Inhaler) so that this problem can be managed effectively at home.

In the meantime, ask her to take lots of fluids, steam inhalation, honey and some throat lozenges for relieving the itching in the meantime,

Reply to Gaurav Gupta's Post: What about using one of the over the counter inhaliers, i.e. Primateen Mist? Would that get her though till monday?

Yes, why not... Primatene Mist temporarily relieves the shortness of breath, chest tightness, and wheezing that mark an asthma attack. It works by reducing spasms in the muscles of the bronchial passages.
