What can cause your intestines to swell up and give you grave cramping pain, in a 16 year old boy?

Male , Age: 16

Already Tried:
He has been to the University of Chicago, they told him he needs to see a pediatrician. He has had a fiber optic camera put down his throat into his stomach and no one can seem to find out why his intestines are swollen. He has very bad cramping pains and has been out of school for almost the whole year. He is just getting worst and no one can seem to tell me why. Can you please help, he has very bad asmha, and he can't live his life due this problem. Please help!
