My throat has been raw, swollen, and EXTREMELY painful for ...

My throat has been raw, swollen, and EXTREMELY painful for 4-5 days without end and no medicines or sprays or lozenges have even touched the pain. My glands are also the most swollen I've ever felt them in my life. I can't even turn my head without a lot of pain. My eardrums feel like they're going to pop. I feel a pressure on my chest and I cough up a lot of phlegm regularly (dark green, brown and red). I haven't had a fever that I'm aware of. I don't have insurance right now. What could be wrong with me and should I seriously consider going to the doctor?
