Need advice Preferably from Ear Nose Throat Doctor

I was seen by the ER physcian on Saturday. After looking at my ears he saw bloody mess in right ear and said i had ottitis media and otitis externa. i just had the flue last week so this would explain it i guess.after doing ear drops and antibiotics (augmentin) for three days my pain is gone . My question is will i ever hear again or do i need that fluid removing surgery. my question is how long before my hearing returns to normal. it feels muffled, in my right ear, like water is in my ear (stopped up) and i hear ringing. HOw long must i endure this torment?
