I am terrified. I am a healthy 39 year old female. Last night I got tingling/numbness in my right hand which spread up above my elbow. I also noticed tingling in my right lower leg and foot. And, for a while, the right side of my face felt weird -- especially my ear and eye. Went to emergency. CAT scan and electrocardiogram were normal. I also was normal on the neurology tests. They are doing follow up tests for a minor stroke. Today, I was better, but there is still tingling/numbness on the right side of my body -- but it seems to come and go. No weakness -- I can still function. And, today, it feels like there is something in my throat -- I can breathe and swallow okay. There is a history of stroke on my dad's side of the family (5 aunts and uncles). Dad is Type 2 diabetic and had a quadruple bypass a couple years back but is now fine. What is wrong with me? Is it a stroke? Do I have MS? Do I have ALS? I have been extremely stressed at work for 4 momths -- could this be a stress reaction. I tend to be a hypochondriac but I do not want to be sick. I am terrified of becoming seriously debilitated or dying and leaving my 18 month old baby. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
