What is the best immune boosting product you can reccomend and should we be doing anything else. Should he see a pediatric infectious disease Dr. besides his pediatrician?

Here is the answer, let me know if this answers your question.

EBV is one of those conditions where all you can do is manage the symptoms. High dose vitamin C supplements will help the immune system, ensuring he is eating protein and carbohydrate to keep his energy levels up. Plenty of fruit, pureed if necessary. Ice cream and cold drinks are good for the sore throat. If its difficult to swallow then local anaesthetic throat lozenges with benzocaine or lidocaine would be good.

If the inflammation is very bad then steroids are occasionally used.

When he feels like getting up, he will need to take it easy for a few weeks as he will feel really tired eg sports games may really exhaust him.

Recovering from EBV can take up to 4 months but fatigue longer than this will need further investigations.

No, as long as EBV has been confirmed then he won't need to see his doctor as the disease will just run its course. If he is still feeling very fatigued after a couple of months then a review may be required.

As long as he is otherwise healthy (no previous immune problems), or other medication then there is nothing specific to do regarding his immune system apart from nutrition.

After a couple weeks, this intense sore throat and extreme tiredness will improve and he will feel like being more active again. The important thing is that he takes it easy and doesn't try and rush back to 100% activity straight away.

Best wishes
