I am concerned because I have a very painful sore

I am concerned because I have a very painful sore throat on only one side of my throat. The other side feels fine but I have great pain on the left side and especially when I swallow. I may have a mild cold because I have been tired for the past few days but mostly it is my throat that is hurting. I have had this condition for about three days. I have also been told that I probably have sleep apnea. I am female and almost 40.
