If the phlegm is coming up from the chest and is still green then this indicates the infection has not cleared completely from the infection. You may need to ask your doctor to have a sputum sample cultured to check the bacteria is sensitive to the antibiotic.

If the phlegm is coming from the sinuses, down the back of the throat then this indicates sinusitis and you need to continue with the decongestants. Also use steam inhalation twice daily for a few days and again you may need an antibiotic to get rid of the sinus infection.
