Respertory problems
Sent to Health Experts June 10 12:14 AM

I have been generally not feeling well lately. The first problem is that I have some sort of respertory problem. It started about a month ago and it happened all of the sudden. I was at work and all of the sudden had problems getting a full breath. In the following month I have had times when it is harder to breath like my throat is closing up. I started taking an allergy medecine and it got a little better but i still have a lot of mucus in my chest that i cough up and my nose is clogged sometimes too. The mucus is usually thin and clear but in the morning it is thicker It also seems that I get out of breath more easly then before. The day I had these problems I quit smoking because that made it worse. Also I work in a kitchen and i sweat a good amount and after some days when i sweat a lot I have sweat crystals form on my face. Do you have any idea what is wrong with me this has been going on for a month now and i am getting worried.

As a respiratory therapist you might have a case of mild asthma which occurs very frequently especially during the asthma months.April ,may ,june ,sept, oct. This is due to the pollen in the air being very high. You need to see a pulmonary doctor to be placed on an inhaler to help with the shortness of breath.Since this may be a mild case at first you might have to use your inhaler every 4 hours. However in about 3 days of using the inhaler, you would see quite a difference in your breathing. You probably would be able to do many tasks becoming hardly done with no shortness of breath. As long as the sputum coming from your throat and mucous from your nose being white or clear is normal, yellow is usually a sign of a minor infection, green many times signs of pneumonia starting.Bringing up the sputum is very good versus leaving it in.You will see within a short time your breathing improving lately. The pulmonary doctor would most likely give you a pulmonary function test which has you breathing different ways into this machine that measures lung function.A percentage of 50% and higher is good lung funtion needing mild forms of inhalers.Anything 50% and lower will usually require lung function .From what I have read it looks like your case is very mild. For further reading On asthma.Go to The american lung association.org .It is an excellent asthma websites. You should try and do all your chores in early morning when pollen count is low.It increases usually in afternoon where your shortness of brath most probably would occur.Your local hospital can give you the names of pulmonary physicians.
