How long has this been going on?

Have you seen a doctor about this?

What antibiotics have you taken and were they prescribed to you for this?

Have you had a culture done of your throat to check for strep?

this has been going on for 5 days without any relief. I have pushed fluids. The antibiotic I am taking is Cipro. It was prescribed for me at a prior time. There is no doctor here. My doctor is 100 miles away.

Usually in these cases I would say to discontinue the Cipro and see a doctor but with your case, I feel that you should call a pharmacist or a doctor and ask about taking the Cipro. If you do have an infection, Cipro should start to take effect. Depending on how old the Cipro is, it may not have the strength to combat an infection any more which is why you need to call a doctor or a pharmacist to find out. Your symptoms sound viral but could very well be bacterial. I would take Tylenol if you have it instead of Ibuprofen and you are doing great with taking the decongestant. I would give this 4-5 more days and if it gets worse or you start running a fever you need to see a doctor. The Cipro should work but you need a doctor or a pharmacist to verify this. If this answer helps please hit the accept button. Thank you.
