This could be a number of different things. Don't be embarrased to go to a doctor for this man! lol. All you have to say is that you have a sore throat, nothing else. You need to find out what is causing the sore throat before taking any antibiotics which Penicillin given in the butt muscle is the choice antibiotic. Not to scare you, but, some STD's such as Chlamydia or Gonorrhea can cause throat infections. Just tell the doctor that you have a sore throat and that you would like a culture done. This is a procedure where the doctor will swab the inside of your throat and take a swab culture of the fluid. This is sent off to a lab to test for bacteria. If anything comes up positive then the doctor will treat you accordingly. Worst case, this is a bacterial infection caused by strep or something else... or this could just be a viral illness. Either way, you need to get checked out. Don't worry. You'll be fine. If this answer helps please hit the accept button. Thank you.

Besides just a regular strep infection, gonorrhea and chlamydia can both reside in the throat causing an infection. If all tests were negative then I would say that you just caught a viral bug and this has caused the symptoms. If the symptoms last more 4-5 more days then you should see a doctor to have your throat swabbed again.
