My seventeen year old daughter's symptoms started with cold symptoms over a week ago. She seemed to be improving. A few days later she had severe headache, including eyes sensitive to light and movement, she sometimes has migraine headaches She also had red throat, mild fever. I took her to the doctor because she told me she had become sexually active. Not because of symptoms. Two sexual encounters over 2 year time period. She is not promiscuous. She had neg pregnancy test, pap smear and tested for all sexually transmited deseases. All have come back neg. She was prescribed birth control she is to start after next cycle. During the exam doctor commented she bled from her urethra very easily. Said her urine indicated she was dehydrated because of dark color. Proscribed doxycycl hyc for sore throat. That was last Thursday. Starting that evening she had sever pain when urinating. Then she noticed urnine leakage with blood tinge that changed to pussy discharge from her urethra on Sunday. Temp would fluctuate up to 102.9 in between doses of tylenol. We went back to doctor on monday. Her urine was tested again. We were told no infection, but has blood and protein. Had neg throat swab for strep. Urine sent of for futher test for infection. She was given rocephen shot and azithromycin. Phenazopyrid for urinary pain. Had a heart rate of 140 in the office. Monday night she ran 103.8 fever. Had sever chills. Racing heart Tuesday morning woke with very sore throat, swollen tonsile on left side with puss patches. We went back to doctor. This was the day we were told all her STD tests were neg. She was started on amoxicillin. Fever cont at low grade 99 to 100. urinary pain severe. She cries because she hurts so bad when urinating and eyes burn severly from tears. She told her eyes had done that since all this started. She has been exposed to mosqitos in past weeks. Could she have west nile. Something is very wrong and I think doctors were procupied with possible std's that have now been ruled out. Please help.
