This could be a simple viral infection or it could be a bacterial infection.

If you think she could gargle with warm salt water, have her do that. (just tell her not to swallow) Make sure she gets plenty of fluids, using a humidifier in her room will be helpful, suck on a throat lozenge can help. If she develops a fever over 100, then it's possible this is bacteria and/or strep related, which she would need a course of antibiotics. Other wise do the above with plenty of rest.

I would give her Motrin, as this will also help with any inflammation too. Keep in mind though each child is different when it comes to Motrin vs Tylenol and bring down a fever. If he had one in the past that helped bring down her fever, stick to the same one. If the Tylenol or Motrin brings her fever down, you should be able to wait till morning to have her seen. But if it doesn't help bring it down or keep it down, then have her seen tonight. Other wise, you are doing what all you can for home treatment.

Best of luck and hope she feels better soon.
