My daughter who is 21 was just put on Amoxicillan for Strep Throat today. We have taken three doses of the medication and she is still complaining of soreness and feels her tonsils are getting larger and complaining that she is afraid the tonsils are going to grow so large she wont be able to breathe. Is it normal for her to continue to have these symptoms or that they get worse after starting the antibiotic this morning?

Tonsillitis from streptococcus can cause these large tonsils. Amoxicillin is a decent antibiotic for this infection, but it will take time to work. By tomorrow afternoon, you should see a big difference.
If you feel at all that the tonsils are closing together (kissing tonsils), then you will have to go to the emergency department. She can be given a dose of intravenous or intramuscular steroids followed by some oral doses to be taken over the next few days. This will help immensely with the swelling.
If she chooses not to go to the hospital, keep a very close eye on her to be sure her breathing is not compromised. You may hear a shrill noise as she breathes in - this is called stridor and means that she is in danger of having the airway close over completely. Do not wait if you hear this noise, call 911 and have her taken to the emergency room.
