Question

Bumps in my mouth....

Sent to Health Experts October 18, 2006 11:07 p.m.

I have a tooth infection for 10 days now i am still taking clindamycin 300 . I do not know if it linked or not but this afternoon at about 12:15 i noticed 3 bumps in my mouth on the palate ( hard palate next to a molar) The bumps are small and have flesh colour ( not white not red...just normal )
Also i noticed that my throuat felt tight. Just came back from teh emergency room where they didn't even look at me they just diagnosed me with SORE THROAT?!?! and send me home.
What can it be? Should i take the antibiotic still?
Thank you,

Alexandra

Continue your antibiotic at this point. But get some yogurt (not fat free) and start eating this, as you may be getting a fungal infection. Taking antibiotics can disrupt the good bacteria in your system. So try that, if there is no change then follow up with your doctor. You can also rinse your mouth with 1 part water and 1 part peroxide as well.

Hope this helps, If you need anything else please feel free to ask. If you found this helpful don't forget to click the *ACCEPT* button and leave *POSITIVE* feedback.

So you think it's just a fungal infection? It's kind of scary to be honest with you...not as much the burning-ish bumps as the tightening of the throat...that's what scares me most...i was even contemplating with mu husband going to another hospital....( over reacting maybe but better safe than sorry)

Thank you,

Alexandra

Just to clarify a few things.. How long have you been taking the antibiotics? Even though it feels like your throat is tight, can you swallow or does it seem like you are having a hard time swallowing?

Thanks

At this point without seeing you, I am thinking more fungal. Which I would still get the yogurt, as this can help a great deal. Especially since you are able to swallow fine. If however you feel you can't swallow or feel like fluids, foods are not going down, then do be seen before tomorrow. Starting and stopping can also be hard on your system, as your body can actually build a resistance to the antibiotics as well.

Which then some people either need something stronger or something not as strong for a longer period of time.

So do the yogurt, allow it to sit in your mouth a bit before swallowing. If there is no change by tomorrow, call the dentist back so he can take an in person evaluation too.

Best of luck Hun, hope you feel better soon.
