I noticed a rash on my forearm the other day.

I noticed a rash on my forearm the other day. I've been dealing with a case of tonsilitis for about 2 weeks now. Should I be concerned that maybe I've contracted something serious, like HIV?

Hi,

You may have Scarlet Fever. You may need a test to rule out strep throat and put on an antibiotic. An HIV infection also may need to be ruled out . When first infected with HIV, you may have no symptoms at all, although it's more common to develop a brief flu-like illness two to six weeks after becoming infected. But because the signs and symptoms of an initial infection - which may include fever, headache, sore throat, swollen lymph glands and rash - are similar to those of other diseases, you might not realize you've been infected with HIV. Please see a doctor for an evaluation.
