My throat is really sore and I don't know what to do ...

My throat is really sore, it hurts like a muscle would, after you would use it all day. My neck hurts when i try to move it, and it feels like pressure is being pressed on it from all sides. My mother won't take me to a doctor becuase she thinks I am overexaggerating.
