Throat problems

The day before yesterday, my left side of my throat hurt and felt prickeley. then yesterday it felt swollen, and lastnite it spread to the other side leaving my throat feeling clogged. All nite I kept waking up having trouble breathing, and this morning when I woke up I couldnt breath rite and I kept gagging on my swollen throat, and I'm thinking I should go to the dr. today, but do you have any thought as to what my problem is
