My question is - I have been having a problem with normal breathing for approx. one year now. My doctor immediately said that its probably "asthma" and prescribed "Flovent" inhalant (after I tried "Advair" and got the shakes); however, I don't feel its doing anything. The problem doesn't feel like my
lungs, but the its centralized more in the bottom of my throat to upper (and I mean like collar bone location) area. Its starts around the center -more to the right and angles a little to the left. Its a tightness. Most of the time its worse at night, especially when I lay down and if I lay on my left side. Running around makes it worse and causes me to cough to help clear it. It seems to be getting worse as it has bothered me for days (all day) at a time lately. Does this sound like asthma to you?

I do suffer from minor allergies (food & pollens -molds the worst) and take "Astelin" daily. I am on Paxil -40mg daily and suffer from migraines several times a month (2-3).

check out your thyroid. have your dr. give you a blood test. and relax. anxiety is s side affect of migraines. they can cause depression too. and these are real health problems. and they work in a circle... pain, anxiety, depression and anger, that causes more pain.try to relax and rest as best you can. thyroid may be the problem and all you do is take a tiny pill for it once a day.

Reply to alli's Post: Was tested for thyroid and this wasn't the problem. Had breathe test done (spiral?) and saw Pulmonary specialist, and had Cat Scans done all came up with nothing yet the problem still occurs from time to time. I gave up on the test. As long as the problem doesn't get worse I'm satisfied that nothing serious is happening. I believe that its just stress causing spasms mixed with allergies which causes this sensation of tightness in my throat & upper chest. Thanks anyway.
