I recently went to my obgyn for a yearly pap smear and after telling her that I hadn't received my period in three months she ordered a lab tesh for amenorrhea. My dr. never asked if I had any other symptoms (which I do: +44 pounds in three months despite regular exercise, excessive facial/stomach hair growth within the past three months, major acne within the past three months, extreme fatigue/tiredness, decreasing sex drive, mild depression/anxiousness, irritability). I've been told that these are often symptoms of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom or Hypothyroidism or some other hormonal imbalance. What, exactly, will the blood test for amenorrhea show and should I talk to my obgyn or my family doctor about my symptoms?
