I have anemia. I take Foltrin for it. I also had my thyroid removd due to non-malignant growths on it. Ergo, I also take synthroid. For a long time I have had a fungus on my lips and was using a topical med for it, but it did not go away. I recently am taking Nystatin oral suspension to treat it. Shortly after taking the Nystatin I fall asleep. I am very tired and crying. Usually when this happens, I know my iron is low. I have been feeling this way before the Nystatin, but it increased when starting it. I have searched to find if the Nystatin affects my iron levels but am unable to find anything. I spoke with the pharmasist and she said it should't affect me in that way but that iron will deplete my sythroid. I am thinking to stop the Nystatin and have my blood levels checked. My questions- 1) Does iron deplete synthroid? 2) Does Nystatin have a bearing in this? 3) What else is available to treat fungus in and around the mouth?
