pregnant or menapausal?
Sent to Health Experts May 21 08:14 PM

I am a 43.7 year old female. I have been having symptoms for some time now of either being pregnant or menapausal or having the flu for way too long.

I took an OTC preg test three times and all three showed negative. So I ruled that out.

These are the symptoms:

Had a period that was normal, followed by one that was 2 wks too early. I usually only bleed for 3 days, but this time for 9 days straight and WAY heavier than normal for me. I went to the Dr and she ordered an Ultra Sound which showed a Fibroid Tumor of 2 1/2
inches and a cyst of 1 1/2 inches. Dr said she wants to ultra sound again in six weeks to monitor growth.

But there have been other symptoms and lately a few new ones.

I am having severe headaches (not at all normal for me), crankiness and I've had no period since the time I blead for 9 days. I still have bloating and cramps though.

My finger nails are breaking all of a sudden.
My teeth are in constant pain.
I seem to be very on edge and snap at my children too easily.
My vision is blurry at times, though it does not last very long.
I crave sugar.
My breasts are leeking some kind of substance. Sometimes milky yet with a green tint to it, and other times it is a clear grey.
My breasts are rather tender. My sexual drive is higher than ever before!
But intercoarse is quite painful.
Everyday I find that I can not get through the day without a nap from noon to 2:30 or 3.
I did have a mammogram which showed nothing abnormal.
Couple of days ago I had morning vomiting and since then just nausea that is sudden and does not last more than a minute.
Every morning I loose controll of my bowels and have an accident.
Urination is as normal for me. Not infrequent or more frequent and no pain associated.
Though every time I turn around I am suffering a vaginal infection. At least twice per month. No problems with vaginal dryness however. If anything I get wetter that I ever used to durring intercoarse and it is much more pleasureable than ever before too. Aside from the pain I experience each time when it feels as though my partner has gone in too deep which hurts like heck!

So what is going on with my body????????
I also have night sweats every night even when the house is very cold, and I break into a sweat while doing nothing at all.
My fingers go numb on me while using them.

I take only one prescription which is 30mg fluoxetine daily and also a multi vitamin daily. I have a seizure disorder that I do not take medication for as I very seldom have a seizure these days. I am a stay at home mother of 2, a three yr old boy and a 10 1/2 yr old girl, so my life is fairly unstressful, yet I feel stressed all the time and overwhelmed with just daily routines.

It is extremely important that you make an appointment with your GYN to determine why you are having a breast discharge. (how long ago was the mammo you mentioned?) Blood work can also be performed to check your hormonal levels and determine if you are indeed menopause. Your mention of fibroid would lead me to believe that is the reason of pain during intercourse.

Many of your symptoms relate to menopause, such as the night sweats, crankiness, cravings, stress, etc.

I would make an appointment to see your dentist to address the pain in your teeth.

You should also discuss the incontinence issue with the GYN. You should also have your thyroid level checked.

Numbness can be related to a pinched nerve:

Reply to Deborah's Post: Deborah,

You asked when the mammogram was done.............it was on April 26th, 2006.

Also, I am concerned that the above mentioned tests, ie, thyroid level; hormonal levels, were not addressed or ordered by the Dr when I went in to have these symptoms explained to me. I returned to the Dr for my follow up appt after the Ultra Sound was done and no tests were ordered at that time either. The only test done was for pregnancy which was done through urine test strip and showed negative. This was at the original appointment.

After my mammogram I received a letter from the imaging service which said the ex-rays were double checked and no signs of abnormalties or concern were found, and yet I had the exam for the shear sake of the concerns I am having with breast discharge.

I do not understand how all these symptoms and concerns could be passed off so quickly and dissmissed by the medical providers I have saught help from.

Please explain to me how the mammogram could show the results it did and yet the discharge is increasing rapidly. Is it normal for mammograms to miss things? Just what is the acurracy level of them anyway? And if I am eventually found to have breast cancer, God forbid, what are the ramifications and how do I fight back? Is there recoarse for the EPIC Center or would I just be stuck with the bill and the disease?

Relist:
I have answered Debrah's question as to the date of mammography and am awaiting reply. I need to know the accuracy rate of mammograms.

Also new symptoms have developed. Yesterday I awoke with 3 VERY large lumps on my head that are painfull to the touch. This morning there are 3 more lumps and my head is in great pain. They are the size of golf balls and one runs into the next resulting in the entire left side of my head being QUITE swollen.

I am wanting to know if this is related to the other symptoms I have been experiencing and does this lead you to a more clear picture of what may be the going ons here?

I am becoming very frightened by all of this.
I will be taking your advice and returning to the OB/GYN.

As I mentioned before, I have not had a period since the 9 day bleeding episode. It has now been 2 months with no period. My research tells me that the periods are to taper off not just suddenly cease, if this is early menopause.

Does any of this lead you to a diagnosis (so to speak) or a suspision (to say the least) of what my body is trying to tell me?
