I just had a ultrasoound of my thyroid and the report came ...

I just had a ultrasoound of my thyroid and the report came back that it was diffusely abnormal heterogeneous appearance of the gland that measured 5.5x2.5x5 cm on the right and left 5.5x2x2.5 cm. Now thry want to do a scan. My tsh is elevated but thyroxine is normal. Can you please help with a answer

Hi

Sounds like you have a non-toxic goitre or an early thyroiditis.
Neither of these conditions is "serious" and it's good news that your scan has ruled out a tumor.
You may go on to develop hypothyroidism.

What are they planning on scanning?
