I'm so exhausted all of the time I feel like I

I'm so exhausted all of the time I feel like I won't wake up. Doctors have said for a couple of years they think I have fibromyalsia, but keep doing tests to rule out other things "first", and as far as I can see are not treating me at all; just taking my money, and time. The onset was shortly after I gave birth to my youngest; almost 7 years ago. I am 44, my white count has been up for years. I have body pain that is unbelievable, especially when the barometer drops, yet I feel a little better once it actually starts raining. I am desparate to stop the testing, and start actually DOING something to start feeling better. I've had to take so much time off of work for tests, and just plain feeling horrible, I'm surprised I still have a job. Can you help me? Is there a direction you can point me in? What can I do?

Reply to Dr.M.D.Mazumdar, MD(O's Post: They say my thyroid tested OK, my blood sugar always tests in the low 80s, and I have no idea what my hemoglobin level is. I believe I have already gone through menapause; it's been 3 years since my last period. Oddly enough, GYN isn't one of the tests they have been pressing. I don't think I've had one in 2 years or so.

Hello,

You must have an Ob-gyn examination. There are so many disease that can occur at this stage. You also need to get a bone densitometry test done to see for oeteoporosis - this could be the reason for the pain all over the body.

And you definitely need to be tested for the hemoglbin level - this is one of the commonest causes of chronic fatigue.

Also, in early menopause, the deficiency of estrogen is bound to make you feel tired as the body has yet to get completely used to the lack of estrogen. You can try increasing the amount of soya beans or soya products you eat. Also increase your calcium intake - at your age you need at least 1000 mg ofcalcium daily. A standard 200ml glass of skimmed cow's milk contains 350-400mg of calcium.

I hope this helps.
