-lacking my encyclopedias I turn to you again. MY sister-in-law (bipolar) is in the hospital. Her liver and kidneys are severely compromised due to many years of drugs but this latest thing has confounded me- her voice changed from normal to sounding like a man- I have it on tape -wish you could hear it. I got a little lead but they want money as well so I am choosing you. This is a stumper ---please help so I can help her. I was lucky - I am a big vitamin person so was able to read and straighten myself out -but this is HUGE!!-If you could come up with something it might be the key as I do not believe in "mental illness"-take your time on this one!!!

REPLIED Check Mark

Hello,

Given your sister-in-law's symptoms, it is quite possible that she is suffering from Hashimoto's hypothyroidism. This is a condition where there is decreased production of thyroid hormones. Symptoms include hoarseness of voice, irritability, mood swings, tiredness, lethargy, forgetfulness, difficulty in concentrating, inability to process information, mood swings, weight gain, loss of hair etc.

She will need to have her blood tested for thyroid antibodies and the levels of TSH, T3 and T4.

You will need to discuss her blood levels with her doctor. If the thyroid hormone tests have not been done, they will need to be done as early as possible.

You can read more about hashimoto's here:

I hope this helps.
