I had a needle biopsy on my thyroid nodule and it came back as a follicular lesion, and they want to do a surgical biospy. I don't like the ideas of taking have of my thyroid out for a lesion that is statistically 85% benign. Can they just remove the nodule? If they cannot, and need to remove the entire lobe what are the reasons why that is? I don't want to have thyroid problems for the rest of my life over a benign lesion. I don't hear good things about any of the replacement therapies.
