Sent to Health Experts December 27 12:50 PM

I was diagnosed with Graves disease and had my Thyroid radiated. I went into heart, liver, and kidney failure. Treated with medication. I gained 100 lbs. in 5 mo. due to this. I''ve always been 107 - 130 lbs. now i''m 200lbs. I for the life of me can''t lose weight. My knees hurt, I have a hard time holding my weight and functioning not including the gross thing I see in the mirror. I''m in my upper thirties and I need help. I have 4 kids and i''m not the active mom I used to be. My quality of life or my husband and childrens are not what they should be. I am very active but due to the pain in weight gain plus humiliation of being huge I NEED HELP. Is there medication that can help my metabolism ? Any help and info. you could offer me would be very appreciated. I want my life back. PLEASE HELP if you can.                                                                                   &nbs p;                                         &n bsp;             Sincerely, LeAnn Grant

LeAnn,

I'm very sorry to hear all this. Did they put you on any meds after the surgery? Let me know what has already been done so I can help.

LeAnn,

I'm glad your still online. I took a second to double check myself. It aggravates me but what I thought is true. Your internist really needs to up your dose. Often doctors get scared and as soon as a number is in normal range they quit adjusting. The thing is, you dose the medicine based on signs not numbers. You really need to be on closer t 250 based on the current evidence. Please make him aware of your situation and stress your desire to go up in dosing. I think it will make all the difference. This isn't the first time I have seen a patient not being adequately dosed on thyroid medicine. I want to see you get your energy back and the weight off. I really think the strong dose will do it.
